About Ash Nicole



Ashley Nicole Smith (Ash Nicole) is a 20-year-old Broadcast Journalism major at Columbia College Chicago. Born and raised in the southern suburbs of Blue Island, Illinois she attended Eisenhower High School. There she took courses to further her experience in Broadcasting. In 2010, Ash Nicole won the Wade’s World Foundation Scholarship for her high school achievements. 

 

In high school, Ash Nicole participated in show choir, student council, television club and was the president of her schools fashion program. She was inducted into the National Honors Society in 2010 and was also a participant in Eisenhower’s Quill and Scroll Society (journalism club). In 2010, Ash Nicole traveled to Bradley University for a five-day broadcasting camp. There she put together news packages and received the 2010 Multicultural Broadcasting Workshop Award. A creative writing piece of Ash Nicole’s was published in a book created by the advanced placement language and composition students of Eisenhower High School. 

 

After achieving a lot of great things at Eisenhower High School, Ashley continued her education at Columbia College Chicago. First year at Columbia, Ash Nicole got off to a great start. She joined Black Student Union, Jewels Inc. (a young woman’s club), and enrolled in numerous television courses. Second year at Columbia, Ash Nicole became even more active. She began to get her work published to websites. Chicago talks was the first website to publish her work (Check out Portfolio).

 

Ash Nicole created a news broadcast entitled UrbanTalkTV. UrbanTalkTV informs the Chicago land area of the rising talent as well as national controversies. “I decided to create this talk show to embrace the talent of the youth.” Ash Nicole is also a freelance model for the state of Illinois. She has participated in over 50 fashion shows, had 50 plus photo shoots and is also the Brand Model for a few Chicago designers.

 

You may have seen Ash Nicole on the Style Networks hot new series Chicagolicious. Look for her on episode 2 “Windy City Blow Out.” Check out the next season of Chicagolicious as she will appear more. Ash Nicole has hosted many events in the area of Chicago including Columbia's Got Talent, The Teyana Taylor Fashion/Talent Show with performances by Teyana Taylor and Three Stars stage play which was written and directed by Audrey Kenner. Three stars happens to be one of her favorite events she has hosted. She not only hosted the Teyana Taylor fashion/ talent show, but she also helped with gathering the models, designers and MUA's.

 

In 2012, Ash Nicole was the Media/Public Relations director for Bsceene TV. Bsceene is a Chicago-based company that provides talent & brands with resources to be seen in front of any targeted audience worldwide. Ash Nicole is also an account executive for Centrax Media Group, E-Learning Company. There she gathers the business for the media group as well as keeping in touch with the individuals they have greeted at industry events. She is currently working at the Richton Park Community Center. There she helps assist the Parks/ Recreation Director with activities for the neighborhood children and the Community Relations Director with events for the community officials. She has appeared on Richton Park's community channel briefing the community on events. She's a business owner for the Amway Corporation and has interned for SET magazine. There her duties included updating SET's website with current sports news, filming and editing video from events. 

 

Ash Nicole is currently interning for WGN's Morning News Show. Her duties include filming and editing video, shadowing the morning news anchors, Larry Potash and Robin Baumgarten as well as writing stories for broadcast.

 

Ash Nicole is an upcoming star whose dream is to become an Entertainment television personality for a major network. People mostly describe Ash Nicole as ambitious, determined and motivated. With these being the traits of Ash Nicole she won’t stop until her dream is fulfilled.
